BEING AN OWNER REQUIRES YOU TO PERFORM A CERTAIN NUMBER OF TASKS PRIOR AND DURING THE PROJECT IN ORDER TO REACH THE EXPECTED SUCCESS. IT IS A FULL-TIME JOB!
The stakeholders of a construction project rely on the Owner’s leadership in order to make the project progress at a satisfactory pace.
In order to implement this leadership, the Owner is expected to perform the following (but not limited to) tasks:
- Goals definition
- Land plot, or building selection and acquisition
- Pre-project preparation and organization
- Schedule, program and layout definition
- Project governance
- Selection of architects, engineers and contractors
- Contract negotiation and management
- Project financing
- Fiscal optimization of the project
- Owner’s insurance coverage selection
- Value engineering
- Materials, equipment and fixtures definition
- Bill of quantity control
- Follow-up and validations of architects, engineers and contractors works
- Project follow-up (budget, scope, schedule and quality monitoring)
- Deliverables follow-up
- Administrative follow-up (quote control, payments, insurances, etc…)
- Owner’s representation for meetings
- Works progress control
- Works delivery
